THE NEED

It is estimated that over 100 million people with physical disabilities worldwide need wheelchairs though less than 1 percent own or have access to one. The number of physically disabled is likely underestimated, due to the difficulty in accounting for 'forgotten' citizens who spend their lives hidden from sight. In many developing countries, the only way for a person with physical disabilities to be mobile is to crawl along the ground or be carried by family or friends. An all too common reality is that many people stay in bed or in the corner of a room for years at a time.

MOBILITY

Working in collaboration with Wheelchair Foundation USA, over 10,000 wheelchairs per month are being delivered worldwide. Mobility creates independence and new possibilities for recipients and their families. A mobile child is able to attend school. A mobile adult is able to get a job and provide for their family. An elderly person with mobility can rejoin society or family activities after years of staying in a bed. The joy that a single mobility device can deliver, is what gives people a new outlook on life, dignity, and hope for the future.
